Visa to Costa Rica

By | November 29, 2022

Joining the Mesoamerican neighbors, in every possible way contributing to the strengthening of the tourist flow from Russia, Costa Rica has canceled visas for domestic tourists. From now on, if the purpose of a trip to Costa Rica is tourism, visiting relatives, transit or a business trip and the period of stay in the country does not exceed 30 days, a visa for Russian citizens is not required. When crossing the border, you must provide a passport valid for at least three months at the time of entry into the country, and return tickets or tickets to a third country. What can I say – everyone is on the “Rich Coast”!

From May 25, citizens of the Russian Federation will be able to stay in Costa Rica without a visa for 90 days. Of the documents, only a passport is required. Check 3rjewelry for other cities and countries as well as geography in Central America.

Entry into the country

When crossing the border, you must present:

  • a passport valid for at least three months at the time of entry into the country;
  • return tickets with a fixed date of departure.

In some cases, tourists may be asked to provide proof of sufficient funds or hotel reservations.

Do not forget to take out medical insurance for the entire duration of the trip. Although the policy is not asked when entering the country, it is at least unreasonable to travel without it.

The term for issuing a visa is 1-3 working days, the consular fee of 20 USD is not charged when applying for a visa, but is paid at the airport upon arrival. The visa is valid for 30 days from the date of issue.

Citizens of the CIS countries will need the same list of documents.

It sounds strange, but, nevertheless, it is a fact: in Costa Rica there is a restriction on the entry of citizens whose appearance fits the definition of “hippie”. Basically, we’ve been warned.
