The curriculum at VCOM is innovative and modern. The faculty recognizes that students learn in a number of ways. Students generally assimilate a knowledge base through instruction, reading, and experience. Four-year M.D. program curriculum
A new Cells-to-Society curriculum addresses patient care in multiple domains of medicine, especially biomedical science, society, culture, and economics. In Foundations of Medicine and Core Systems students learn normal human biology; then apply it to solve clinical cases in small physician led groups. A set of Core Clerkships are followed by a menu of Selectives and almost unlimited Electives.

Four-year M.D. program curriculum
The first year focuses on structure and function, and the second year covers pathologic displays in treatment of disease. An M1/M2 longitudinal course provides clinical experience with physicians and small group instruction on basic clinical medicine. M3 students receive clinical training, rotating through various hospitals and ambulatory services. M4 students choose from a variety of electives.

Arlington National Cemetery
You shouldn’t miss this sight. This American National Cemetery is the final resting place of many people who died for their country. This cemetery is steeped in history because it also contains the remains of the victims who died in the American Civil War. Here is also the grave of the famous U.S. President John F. Kennedy. During the funeral on November 25, 1963, an eternal flame was lit by Robert Kennedy and Jacqueline. This is still burning today. In addition to the president, two of his children and Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis are also buried here.
Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum
This museum always amazes its visitors. Around 60,000 rare exhibits on the subject of space travel and aviation are exhibited here. The exhibition area is 566 square meters in total. You can see spacesuits, rockets and engines here.
Virginia Beach Boardwalk
This large waterfront offers many attractions. There are shops and restaurants and a wide range of entertainment in the evening. A bronze statue named King Neptune watches over this area. It weighs eleven tons and is extremely impressive. For inline skaters there are fantastic opportunities to practice their sport.
Shenandoah National Park
Shenandoah National Park is just 75 miles from Washington DC. Many visitors come here to recover from hectic everyday life and to recharge their batteries. Waterfalls, an impressive panorama and the pristine landscape invite you to linger. The country is a haven for many songbirds and deer. Here visitors can take the opportunity to cycle, hike, fish or climb.
Mount Vernon
George Washington once lived here. This magnificent and imposing estate is located on the Potomac River and gives an insight into the life of a former general who was also the first U.S. president. The scenic areas and the manor house can be visited.

If you want to immerse yourself in the history of Virginia, this is the place for you. The past comes back to life here in the city. It is an interesting mixture of modern and colonial style and the spirit of the past epochs still wafts through the streets.
