Medical education in Idaho is provided by the Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine (ICOM), a private, non-profit medical school located in Meridian, Idaho. ICOM opened its doors in August 2018 and is the first osteopathic medical school in the state. ICOM offers a four-year Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree program that combines traditional medical education with additional training in osteopathic manipulative medicine. The curriculum also emphasizes preventive care, rural medicine, and community health. Students are trained to become primary care physicians serving rural and underserved communities throughout Idaho. In addition to its DO program, ICOM also offers Master of Science programs in biomedical science and clinical research as well as a Certificate program in public health.
