According to Homethodology, Louisiana is one of 50 states in the United States. It is located in the southern region of the country and is bordered by Arkansas to the north, Mississippi to the east, Texas to the west, and the Gulf of Mexico to the south. Louisiana has a population of 4.6 million people as of 2019 and covers an area of 51,843 square miles. Louisiana’s capital city is Baton Rouge and its largest city is New Orleans. Louisiana is known for its rich cultural heritage, especially its French Creole influences, as well as its music, cuisine, and outdoor activities such as hunting and fishing. Modern history of Louisiana dates back to the early 20th century. At this time, the state was still largely rural with a large agricultural economy. During this time, oil and natural gas were discovered in the state, leading to a boom in the energy industry. This led to an influx of people and money into the state. In the 1960s, civil rights protests began in Louisiana as African Americans sought to gain access to voting rights and other civil rights protections. This led to the passage of federal legislation such as the Voting Rights Act of 1965 which provided greater access to voting for African American citizens in Louisiana. The 1970s saw a period of rapid economic growth in Louisiana through industrialization and tourism. The oil industry continued to be a major contributor, while new industries such as chemical production and shipping emerged. The 1980s saw further economic growth with expanded trade between Louisiana and other states as well as foreign countries due to increased access to international ports along the Gulf Coast. In recent years, Louisiana has become a hub for film production due to its variety of locations and tax incentives for filmmakers. Additionally, New Orleans has seen an influx of new residents due to its vibrant culture and unique architecture which have made it popular with tourists from around the world.
