During the 20th century, Iowa continued to be an agricultural leader while also becoming home to some of America’s biggest companies such as John Deere and Maytag. The state also became known for its scientific research centers such as the Ames Laboratory at Iowa State University. In addition to its scientific research centers, Iowa is home to numerous universities that offer high-quality education opportunities. The 21st century has been an exciting time for the state of Iowa with continued growth in its agricultural sector as well as new industries such as technology and renewable energy sources like wind power becoming increasingly important parts of its economy.
