Plain Pest was known in ancient times, when it was one of the fortified points of the Roman legionnaires. Mountain Buda is located on the right bank of the Danube and occupies about a third of the capital of the Hungarian capital. Until 1873, Obuda was even an independent city, and only then became an integral part of the capital. Buda and Pest are connected by the huge Lantzhid Bridge, which is one of the majestic and most beautiful bridges in Europe. Budapest has a huge number of interesting architectural monuments, which rightfully make the Hungarian capital one of the most beautiful European cities. While in Budapest, you should definitely see such architectural monuments as the Buda Castle, the Fisherman’s Bastion,  St. Stephen’s Basilica, the National Opera, and the Royal Palace. Ancient streets, beautiful squares and extraordinary beauty of houses make tourists wander around the city and admire its picturesque views.

National cuisine of Hungary

Hungarian cuisine is distinguished by the variety of prepared dishes and their high satiety. Preference is given to meat dishes, for which there are a huge number of recipes. Meat dishes in Hungarian cuisine have their own cooking characteristics. First of all, onion and paprika are always used in cooking, and there are dozens of variations on their use. Another feature – meat dishes are a cross between the first and second courses. Even goulash, known throughout Europe, is a thick soup with stew, paprika and vegetables. In addition to the famous goulash, you should definitely try the delicious Pörkölt – meat stewed with onions and paprika. You should also try paprikash – this is the same perkelt, but with the use of sour cream, in which meat or chicken is stewed. Such dishes are also very tasty, like ear “halasle”, “lecho”, “token”. Debrecen sausages, which are made from pork or beef with the addition of paprika, are also very popular. Due to the peculiarities of the cooking recipe, they retain their delicate and juicy taste, and therefore they are liked not only by local residents, but also by numerous tourists. Speaking of Hungarian cuisine, the local types of dessert should also be mentioned without fail. Gundel pancakes, Esterhazy cakes, Dobos cake can appeal even to those who are not very fond of sweets. Of course, Hungarian wines should also be noted. Especially famous is Tokay wine, which was popular in medieval Europe. It is also worth tasting the taste of the famous Hungarian apricot vodka, which is distinguished by its originality.
