Duty free shopping
Overview
The following items may be imported duty-free into Peru: 20 packs of cigarettes or 50 cigars or 250 g of tobacco (persons aged 18 and over); 3 bottles of alcoholic beverages (no more than 3 liters in total) (over 18s); Toiletries and medicines for personal use. Travel goods and gifts may not exceed a total value of US$ 500. Autodial Long Distance Service. There are public pay and card phones. Telephone cards are sold in kiosks and in supermarkets. The card must match the phone company that owns the phone. Information is available on 103 (service in Spanish).
Mobile phone
Tri-band network, GSM 1900. Network operator is TIM Peru (Internet: www.tim.com.pe). Mobile phones can be rented in Lima and larger cities from Telefónica del Peru for a limited time.

Post office
Airmail to Europe takes up to two weeks to arrive. Outside of Lima, the post office is less reliable. Airmail items addressed to P.O. Boxes within Peru take approximately four days to arrive, but delays are to be expected. Opening hours of the main post office in Lima: Mon-Sat 08.00-18.00 and Sun 08.00-12.00.
