The town has traditionally been conservative with the majority of its residents voting Republican in recent elections.

The current Board of Selectmen is composed of three Republicans and two Democrats who are elected to staggered three-year terms. The Town Administrator acts as the chief executive officer for the town and is appointed by the Board.
