A Little Bit about Anatomy, Proportions, and Trim of Clothing

All the time we hear that we should dress in clothes suitable to our body type, pay attention to the fit of the parts and try to point out our qualities through the features that the fashion available to us, but little is explained about the human proportions, where really is the what, and, finally, how to comply with these measures to create harmony in our silhouette.

A Little Bit about Anatomy, Proportions, and Trim of Clothing

The first thing you should know is that the human body is incredibly proportional and the clothing you use need to comply with this ratio. There are a few standards sizes that apply to the entire world, with minor variations, as for example the height of a person, which is equivalent to 7 ½ times the height of your head (can be 8X in some cases) or the width of the shoulders which has 2 times this basic measure. In the image above you can clearly see this relationship.

Let’s use the example of the trim the outfit with the most basic of all: the cotton t-shirt. The shoulder seams have to be perfectly positioned on the joints, this way they unite the drawing of the chest, creating the shape of a trapezium, giving the illusion that your shoulders are larger. If the shirt is too small it estreitará your shoulders, if it is too large will decrease your arms and will make you look sloppy, so say goodbye to the proportions work what nature gave you.

Now, an example of a piece that, in my opinion, should be avoided: the pair saruel. Unconsciously we all know where the hook of a pant should be, when we played this hook there on down, lengthened in a way not natural to the back (or trunk if you prefer), causing the illusion of shortening the legs, something that nobody wants, right? The result can be nothing less than a disaster anatomical, more modern to say that this type of pants is the thing more cool of world!

A part of the anatomy that is not reflected on the fashion is the waist. A long time ago the waist of the pants and stood between his ribs and hip, a little above the navel, the place of the true waist anatomical, today, however, it is at the beginning of the hip. This change is due to several factors, but I believe that the main is the aesthetics of the 2000s based on the cult of the body where the tummy tuck stole the attention given previously to the biceps and chest, so, then converting it with the pants no longer seems a good idea as it was in the early 90’s.

Do not think that the trim will only help those who is the body in the day, quite to the contrary, pieces well-cut and well-chosen can make you taller, stronger and even more elegant, using only small eye tricks that take into account these measures are universal, depends on you paying attention to what you are wearing and be aware of your body type.

Here is some more trivia about the proportions of the body, they may not be as useful, but they serve to impress your friends at bar table:

  • The eyes have among them the exact space of the other eye;
  • The distance from your chin to base of nose, base of the nose to the eyebrow line and the line of the eyebrow to the beginning of the scalp is exactly the same;
  • Of your chin up to your nipples you have a distance equivalent to the height of your head, up to the navel, the size doubles and with 3 times the measure got to the end of the trunk;
  • The articulation of the elbows is at the height of his waist, but not the pants, the true, the one between the ribs and the pelvis;
  • The size of the feet or of the hands has not the slightest relationship with the size of the genitals, of course!
