Colorado: climate and weather
Colorado's climate is considered pleasant but
continental. Winters are cold and snowy, summers are
warm with occasionally hot days. What is pleasant,
however, is the rather low humidity, which softens
the climate all year round. The number of hours of
sunshine is usually quite high and the sky is often
cloudless. However, the temperature differences
between day and night are occasionally high. Sun
protection and warm clothing are both recommended
when traveling to Colorado.
Rodeo, winter sports and pioneering spirit
Anyone who visits Colorado will be amazed by the
impressive landscapes and the huge dimensions of the
state. Denver is certainly worth a
visit because it is located in the northern center
of the state and became known in Germany through the
U.S. series Denver Clan. Numerous mining companies
are based here. As the center of the state, it has
an impressive skyline and numerous educational
institutions and company headquarters.
Art lovers should visit the Denver
Art Museum. Here you can find objects of art
from the Indians but also modern art. History buffs
should also stop at the Denver History Museum. The
city also has a botanical garden, a zoo and an
aquarium. Numerous historic buildings can be found
in Denver, the oldest hotel is the Brown Palace
Hotel, the oldest city building is the Four Mile
House. As the capital, Denver is also the seat of
the Colorado State Capitol.
Anyone interested in American sports will also
love the city, because here you can play interesting
games in baseball (Colorado Rockies at Coors Field
Stadium), basketball (Denver Nuggets at the Pepsi
Center), ice hockey (Colorado Avalanche at the Pepsi
Center) and football (Denver Broncos) and football
(Colorado Rapids).
According to
allcitypopulation, Denver almost became an Olympic city in 1976, but
a referendum finally voted against it and Innsbruck
took over the host in Austria. A brave decision that
some may regret today. Despite this decision, the
city has become world famous and is also ideal for a
winter sports holiday in the area.

Likewise, there are of course also winter
holidays in the snow-sure towns of Aspen (considered
the richest place in the USA, the Aspen Music
Festival takes place here in summer) and Vail (the
largest ski area in the USA and not without reason
twin town of St. Moritz in Switzerland) on.
North of Denver is Fort Collins, a
university town with a beautiful old town and close
to the Rocky Mountains National Park. In the United
States, the city is particularly known for its
American football team. From here you should also
visit one of the oldest prehistoric sites in North
America, the Lindenmeier Site.
Colorado Springs is considered an
evangelical conservative center. The city also has a
number of museums, including the McAllister House
Museum, the Peterson Air and Space Museum and the
Pioneer Museum. Anyone interested in rodeo
should visit the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame.
In addition to the already mentioned national
park in the Rockies, the Black Canyon of the
Gunnison National Park (with the huge canyon
through the Gunnison River), the Great Sand
Dunes National Park (impressive up to 230 m
high sand dunes) are also impressive, the highest in
North America) and the Mesa Verde National Park (with
the Cliff Palace and other rock dwellings of the
Anasazi tribes). |
